1984 Vauxhall Astra 1300 S L
Just flown through MOT (no advisories), 53k miles, full history, 1 previous owner.
Most reliable car I've ever owned, she's never faulted me once or needed anything spent on her. Every single MOT from new, she's been on the road all her life, covering an average 1500 miles per year apart from the last year I've done around 5k. Everything is original, nothing added or removed since it left the factory, everything works and it's a very satisfying drive indeed. Cruises at 80mph very comfortably. Made in the good old days when smoking fags was considered more important than safety, it only has 2 seatbelts and one wing mirror but THREE ashtrays! (Never been smoked in)
While I would describe overall condition as excellent for year, there are a few areas of rust on the paintwork which need to be taken care of and would benefit from new front wings before one could describe as mint.
Would honestly keep her if I had space in the garage, there can't be many as genuine as this left out there and value will only go one way over the years! Gets a considerable amount of appreciation, deservedly. It's not unusual for strangers to give a thumbs up as you drive past. She's always a happy place to be and I'll be sad to see her go. It's the only Mk1 Astra L 1300S left on the road according to howmanyleft.
