This A40 Austin Somerset has original 1200cc B series engine. The vehicle was first restored some 20 years ago before being put into storage for preservation. In recent time a makeover has just been done where comprehensive welding was carried out to the body mounts, front, rear quarters, and both inner and outer sills, and mid section chassis mountings. Other restoration work included stripping and reinstalling cylinder head, brakes adjustment, replacing heavily corroded exhaust, and replenishing 4 worn out tyres, stripping cylinder head and reinstalling. The head gasket was skimmed and pressure tested valve seats were toughened to enable running on unleaded fuel. Gear selector was repaired, carburettor overhauled, brake fluid, differential oil, gearbox oil, and coolant flushed. Also the engine oil and oil filter changed. The trimming of the interior is left in its original state. The car comes with original documents and recent service history. As an added value, the car comes with original valuation letter of registration value of £2000 which will be passed on to a potential buyer. In general the body work is in good condition.
