You could make a difference to a young person’s life.
Barnardo’s needs you.
Can you provide a safe space for a young person in your own home which will allow them to increase in confidence and prepare them for the next chapter of their lives?
Barnardo’s are looking for individuals or families to open their doors and provide safe and secure homes for 16 to 21 year-olds. Hosts receive round-the-clock assistance, a dedicated key worker, a comprehensive training programme and a host payment of £150 per week.
What does a host do?
As a host, you may need to support with basic practical skills such as budgeting, cooking and shopping to help the young person live independently. They may also need help to develop social skills or to access training or employment.
Lynne Johnston, service manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for people in the community to provide a room which can be a safe space for a young person to become independent and move onto the next stage in their lives. This support can make a real and lasting difference to them and is also highly rewarding for the host.“
