We have 3 properties in this area, 2 houses and this Casa de Vecinos. Of those couples who have seen or stayed in all 3, this surprises us as their favourite! Casa de Vecinos means house of neighbours. The entrance door is off a pedestrian street and opens onto a communal brick paved patio. At the back of the patio is a large cave divided into 2 parts. Beside the entrance to the cave is a fantastic old moorish bottle shaped well. There are five different living areas off the main patio. All date back centuries, to a time of thick walls and beamed ceilings. Ours is furnished in a style to complement the period. The bedroom has a double bed and terracotta clay wash basin. It has an en-suite shower/ dressing room with loo, shower and basin and his and hers built in wardrobe and a hidden automatic front loading washing machine. The living room is open plan. It has a 3 piece suite, a dining unit with table and seats and kitchen area. The south facing French windows open to reveal views of the town, countryside and distant mountains. Although designed for 2 people to stay, it is possible to sleep a third person on a guest bed. We have a small character front porch entrance. To the side of this entrance is a door opening into possibly the smallest bathroom in Spain. This has a 1 metre bath and a loo. It is also possible to enjoy a surprisingly spacious refreshing shower here. Vejer de la Frontera is an enchanting white hilltop town of national importance. Our small casa is just a stone throw from the famous Plaza Espana. Even closer is the exciting restaurant of El Jardin del Califa. There is day time parking (about 30 paces from the patio) and night parking just below - all free. A real bonus as many houses are in streets where there is no parking nearby. Vejer looks out over the Atlantic Ocean towards Morocco which can be seen on a clear day. Views inland are equally fascinating. Vejer is not a resort. It dates back centuries to the moorish occupation and before but has all modern services. All the beaches nearby are fabulous in this part of Spain. We have been around the entire coast of Spain and we think this area combines the best average weather with natural unspoiled countryside and beaches, fascinating places to see and so many things to do. Most of our bookings are from existing clients who return time and again to our properties. Airports, nearest first are Gibraltar, Jerez, Sevilla and Malaga. Our weekly holiday rates are extremely reasonable. They include full cleaning and preparation, linen and towels, gas, electricity, hot water and a bottle of local wine. Autumn, Winter, Spring £250. Summer (June, July and August) £300. Any questions please call Richard and Mary on 01342 712053 01342 7120...(click to reveal full phone number) or email click to
