In addition to the onsite facilities, Hadrian’s Wall runs immediately past the Park and of course is an essential attraction for walking enthusiasts, as to is Glasson Moss Nature Reserve and Wildlife Park, a short distance away via the Nature Trail and perfect for a family day out.
Fishing enthusiasts may enjoy a day Haaf Net Fishing on one of Cumbria’s many rivers or even on the Solway Firth, where this long-established method of fishing is still permitted and is unique to the area. Sea Fishing on the Solway is also available for those wishing to catch a memento of their day!
A good energetic day out can be spent at the Westlands Activity Centre where a range of active pursuits such as Quad Biking, Paintball, Assault Course and Karting, shall keep everyone entertained; alternatively, sit back and spectate from the Centre’s welcoming cafe!
Browse the fantastic array of shops in Carlisle, where The Lanes Shopping Centre has become a popular draw for those in need of some retail therapy. Alternatively Gretna Gateway’s Designer Outlet offers up some unique shopping in the area should you wish to pick up something a little bit different.
Traditional hamlets and picturesque villages are scattered all along the coastline, where the views are stunning and quaint pubs and cafes offer welcome lunch and coffee stops.
The Kings Arms at Bowness on Solway, a traditional family pub, located at the western end of Hadrians Wall and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the perfect lunch stop for those enjoying a day’s sightseeing, cycling, walking or bird watching within the Grasslands – a site of scientific interest.
A little further afield are the breathtaking delights of the Lake District National Park and a little further again, you cross the Border into Scotland.
