Sandstone Setts and cobbles – Setts (granite and sandstone etc.) are also in our Premium Range. Sandstone setts create fantastic looking natural stone driveways. A sandstone driveway is an extremely hardwearing and aesthetically pleasing. Sandstone setts / granite setts are natural stone that have been cut or split into cobble size. They are laid on a full mortar bed on a reinforced concrete base and then hand pointed to create the ultimate looking paving. Every stone is unique and is perfect for use in designer driveways. Installing a sandstone sett driveway is very labour intensive and is limited to only the very best skilled installers. The cost of a sandstone driveway is around twice the price of a block paved driveway and the results below show why. Our typical sandstone/ granite sett driveway will cost between £160-£220 + VAT a Sq Metre.
Block Paving Driveways
Block Paving –block paving is the most popular paving in the UK and is perfect or creating a quality looking and economical driveway. There are many types of block paving on the market from classic cobbles such as the Marshalls Tegula to a modern clean line granite effect ‘Marshalls Argent’. Block paving is a flexible paving system that is laid on a compacted subbase and a sand bed. Kerb edging and border strengthen the drive and also add height and restraint to flower beds and borders. One major advantage of block paving is the ability to lift up and relay the blocks if a new gas or water pipe is needed to be relaid to your property etc.
Block paving neeeds to be maintained to prevent air bourne weeds from geminating in the joints. A stiff brush every month and the application of a path clear weed killer will keep the driveway looking clean and fresh. The majority of block pavers are slip resistant and are suitable to slopes. Our typical block paved driveway will cost between £100 -£125 + VAT a Sq Metre.
Gravel Driveways
Stabilised gravel- stabilised gravel looks like a normal gravel driveway but with an extremely tough honeycomb stabilisation system underneath which prevents gravel from going into the road and all over the rest of the garden. The gravel is firm and needs little maintenance. The honeycomb sheets are laid on a subbase and then filled by gravel. Stabilised gravel provides an excellent low maintenance SUDS compliant surface suitable for drives and paths. Stabilised gravel extremely tough and can withstand heavy vechicles driving over. Our typical gravel driveway will cost approximately £75 + VAT a Sq Metre.
