My name is Peter Jones. I am an experienced teacher with 35+ years teaching and examiner with two UK exam boards. I currently supplement my teacher's pension by tutoring students to a high standard. I take much pride in 'adding value' to my students' learning experience which I measure by expecting each student to achieve at least one grade above what was originally expected. I expect my students to be proactive and independent in their learning style (i.e. be ahead of the game) so that they take ownership of their ideas. My focus is on developing the higher level exam skills required to access the highest grade. I take as much pleasure in tutoring a student whose confidence is boosted and subsequently achieves a higher than expected grade as those students who achieve 100 UMS. I deconstruct apparently complicated topics into simple basic ideas and then build them up again. I tutor individuals and small groups both 'face-to-face' and / or 'online' in my virtual classroom which includes an interactive white board and all one would expect in a modern classroom including 'discussion rooms' where pairs of students can discuss a topic and then return to the main classroom to present their findings.
