This year’s Elder Stubbs Festival is themed around ‘Alice in Wounderland’ and will be taking place on Saturday 19th August 12pm-6pm, at the Elder Stubbs Allotment, Rymers Lane, Oxford, OX4 3LB. The annual event has 3,000 devoted attendees and is organised by local mental health charity Restore to raise awareness of mental health problems, foster community cohesion, raise money - and of course, have fun! Set in Elder Stubbs nine-acre allotment site, among flowers, orchards it promises to be a unique, unforgettable event.
Returning to headlining the Main Stage is Emily Maguire. As an advocate for mental health, Ms. Maguire speaks frequently in the media about combating the stigma of mental illness, including BBC Radio 2 and 4. In February this year launched her fifth album ‘A Bit of Blue.
Restore are also excited to welcome back Raw Sounds, Music in Mind and the deaf choir Handy Voices who as well as performing will be teaching guests how to sign along to popular songs, Natty will also be back with his ever-popular Reggae and Dub tent.
But it’s not all about the music. There is a children’s fancy dress parade, with a prize for best dressed Alice in Wonderland character.
Guests can take part in a range of hands-on workshops, including yoga, Mindfulness and Tai Chi.
In the Kidz Corner will have swing boats, pony rides, parachute games, face painting, and colouring.
There will be a plethora of stalls selling locally made crafts, and community groups talking about their work, BBQ, Mad Hatters Tea Party, pizza oven and much more…
Entrance fee’s apply | cash only | limited parking, so guests are encouraged to walk, cycle or take public.
