Thursday 29 – Friday 30 December 2016 The Shuttleworth Collection will be hosting its annual Engineering Open workshop on Thursday 29 – Friday 30 December 2016. It’s where the Collection opens its doors to areas not usually available to the public to allow access to all the latest projects. Everyone will get the chance to chat to our skilled engineers and volunteers, who love discussing what goes into rebuilding vintage aircraft, maintenance and the skills needed to keep these aircraft flying. Our vehicle workshop team will also be on hand to talk about restoration projects and these fine old and mostly Edwardian cars, and our classic motorcycles. It’s a fun day out for the whole family, which will include trails for children throughout the workshops and talks and demonstrations throughout the day. The restaurant will be open for delicious festive treats. IPMS Brampton will be holding free Airfix ‘Make and Paint’ workshops throughout both days. Build and paint your Airfix model there and then, with advice and support on hand from the Brampton Scale Model Club if you need it. A great activity for the kids, grandkids or the young-at-heart! Our Agricultural display will feature the Living Van, chaff cutter, tractors, and other exhibits, with volunteers on hand to explain how it all works, and the time and energy that goes into restoring items such as the Chaff cutter. This year the ticket price includes entry to the Swiss Garden in addition to the Collection, and that’s a lovely picturesque place to unwind in the fresh air. Please note a ticket is valid for one day only.
