This year, Guide Dogs is 85 years old! To celebrate our birthday, we, at Guide Dogs Maidstone, will walk 85 miles from our Hove Office to our Maidstone Office over 5 days. Our walk starts Tuesday 4th October & ends Saturday 8th October. It will take an estimated 170,000 steps to complete this journey and every 5 steps we take will represent one of the 30,000 life transforming guide dog partnership we have created since our services began in 1931. Add to this the 2,000 or so children with a visual impairment that we support every year, or the 800 people a year who benefit from our voluntary sighted guiding service; or those we help through training with a long cane or other mobility aid. Virtually every single step we take will represent a life Guide Dogs have helped to transform.
