Learn guitar, mandolin, banjo and ukulele with James David Smith Bmus (hons). All ages/abilities welcome! During his time at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama James studied with the celebrated concert artists John Mills and Christopher Stell (Eden-Stell Duo) and performed for some of the world’s finest guitarists including Craig Ogden, Gary Ryan, Ben Verdery and Nigel North. In 2005 he was awarded the Stuart Cohen Prize for guitar. James has toured extensively in the UK and overseas with appearances at the Wales Millennium Centre, The Bolivar Hall, Hammersmith Apollo, Bloomsbury Theatre and The French Legation (Austin TX) and has also performed on BBC Radio and KGSR (USA). He has vast experience of coaching students of all ages and backgrounds through the ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and RGT syllabus grades 1-8/Diploma level and regularly teaches folk instruments such as mandolin, banjo and ukulele. Always an active and in-demand artist, James strives to encourage, advise and support all who wish to pursue a path in music. Since November 2012 James has taught at Lancing College. Fully CRB.
