This is a really attractive and unusual hall stand. It is particularly useful where space is limited given its slender design.
Size: 204 cm high (to the top of the finial) x 58 cm wide x 26 cm deep.
The exact age of this item is unknown, but it is believed to date from the late Victorian or early Edwardian era. It is a sturdy floor standing piece made from solid mahogany wood. It has recently been refurbished / upcycled and is freshly painted (with an undercoat plus two top coats) in a satin finish white colour - which will fit nicely with most decors.
This stand would look good in either a traditional or contemporary setting. It is the perfect statement piece if you want to easily add character and the wow factor to your hall or utility room. As well as being a very useful, practical and stylish item for home use it could also be used in a retail environment.
The stand features an unusual and elegant finial at the top of a half moon shaped bar which holds four double hooks for hanging up jackets, bags, scarves, etc.
On the rear of the stand, at the top, there are two small metal brackets to enable the stand to be fixed to a wall using screws. This ensures there is no danger of the stand falling over due to the weight of items hung on it, or when moving them. This is a very sensible design feature and means the stand is ideal if there are children and / or animals around.
The brass hooks are the original fittings and therefore tarnished - which is to be expected given their age and previous use. This adds to the undoubted charm of the coat stand. However, they could easily be replaced with new ones if so desired.

The bottom section of this tapered stand has two rectangular compartments for storing umbrellas, walking sticks, fishing rods, etc. The base of both of these is newly installed hard wearing, practical plain grey slate - which looks nice against the white painted wood.
This is a private sale from a pet and smoke free home. The coat stand is only being sold as I am re-designing my hall.
