Knitting for Beginners 4 Week Course - Adults* Learn how to knit using cotton (Spring/ Summer) and Wool/Acrylic (Autumn/ Winter) Start Date: Sunday 14th May 2017 Duration: 4 weeks– 1½ Hrs Per Week Venue: Yellow Pavillion, Wembly Park. HA9 0EG - Metered Parking directly outside venue - £1 ph Time: 10am to 11.30am Price: £38.00 includes Knitting Starter Pack (see below) *Children over 11 are permitted to attend if accompanied and supervised by an adult participating in the course. 2 places will need to be booked. Course Outline Crafty-Grown-Ups Knitting Classes are project based. This means you will be creating a knitted item whilst learning the basics of knitting. At the end of the four weeks you will have the necessary skills to make a Bunny Rabbit, made from a simple knitted square and a simple knitted teddy bear. With the techniques mastered you can go on to make simple scarves, simple hats, mobile phone and tablet covers, placemats, washcloths, simple purses and even simple garments. Techniques Covered Include: How to Cast on - ie. start your very first row of knitting. You will also learn how to increase by casting on stitches at the end of a row. How to Knit and Purl (V's and bumps) - the two basic stitches in knitting. How to create Stockinette Stitch and Garter Stitch fabrics. How to Cast Off - ie.take your project off the needles once completed. You will also learn how to decrease by casting off stitches at the end of a row. How to Pick Up Dropped Stitches and Correct Mistakes How to Join In New Yarn and Change Colour How to sew two pieces of knitted fabric together. You will have the opportunity to work with a woolen yarn which is stretchy and more forgiving, and a cotton yarn which will require you to think about how you are forming your stitches a bit more. The Knitting Starter Pack Includes: I pair 4mm (old size 8) Knitting needles 1x100g ball of Chunky Acrylic Yarn 1x100g ball of Double Knit (DK) Cotton I x Crochet Hook 1x Tapestry needle. 1 x Lifeline Stitch holders The course will take place at the Yellow Pavillion Centre - less than 10 minutes from the London Designer Outlet.
