All tortoises come with the CITES certificate (do not buy a tortoise without this).
I have created a tortoise guideline for information on how to care for a tortoise and equipment that will be needed prior to collection. I am happy to email this over on request. Please, no vivariums.
Plenty of outdoor space is a necessity - please do not consider buying a Tortoise if you don't have a garden. Tortoises like roaming about, so if possible make the garden completely escape proof. Walled gardens are ideal but if you have to pen your tortoise in, allow at least 10 square metres per tortoise and make sure that the animal can neither climb over nor burrow under the surround. Pens with solid walls should be at least 50cm high. Garden ponds should be adequately covered to prevent risk of drowning. Hermanns tortoises MUST hibernate over the winter. Please ensure you had done adequate research on hibernating your tortoise before committing to buy.
I must stress that tortoises are a lifetime commitment and can live in excess of 100 years - so please do not impulse buy!
Please get in touch if you're interested - i am happy to answer any questions.
Many thanks (please note that the tortoises shown in the picture's are of my hatchlings last year. They are of course almost identical this)
