This week: the best in cabaret, theatre & spoken word with OT Extras, presenting BARB JUNGR, TIM CROUCH, SIMON LIPKIN, JON ROBYNS, GILES TERERA, WENDY COPE & DICKIE BEAU
BARB JUNGR SINGS NINA SIMONE
The UK’s finest interpreter of song, Barb Jungr returns to her stunning interpretations of the legendary vocalist and songwriter for this special performance at the Orange Tree to sing the songs of jazz colossus, Nina Simone.
'I, MALVOLIO' - TIM CROUCH
Tim Crouch is one of the UK’s most original theatre makers. In his highly acclaimed one-man show, I, Malvolio, he re-imagines Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night from the point of view of its most notoriously abused steward.
SIMON LIPKIN, JON ROBYNS, GILES TERERA
10 years ago, Giles, Jon and Simon starred together in the original London production of Avenue Q. Under the musical direction of Alex Williams, they will present an irreverent evening of song, banter and more larking about than you can shake a shtick at, featuring songs from Avenue Q and their many other musical theatre triumphs. This is the very first time the show has been performed, and depending on how much damage it does to their professional reputations, it could be the last. You wouldn’t want to risk missing it.
DICKIE BEAU - UNPLUGGED
Dickie Beau is an actor, physical performer and intrepid drag fabulist. He takes the familiar technique of lip-synch and refines it into an artform, to create work which is funny, virtuosic and eerily beautiful. In this intimate and stripped-back Audience With, Dickie will sing some songs, tell some stories, and channel the voices of Judy Garland, Kenneth Williams and director Peter Sellars. Part variety show, part séance, this is an opportunity to enter the world of one of the country’s most distinctive and exciting new talents.
WENDY COPE - ONE WEDDING AND A FUNERAL
Since the huge success 30 years ago of her first collection, Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis, Wendy Cope has become one of the country’s best-loved poets – witty, playful and wise. This intimate poetry reading will draw on work from her most recent collection, Family Values, alongside poems from the past three decades, and extracts from her new prose anthology, Life, Love and The Archers. Wendy will discuss her writing, take questions from the audience, and sign books after the show. A golden opportunity to meet a national treasure. FOR MORE INFO OR TO BOOK TICKETS PLEASE VISIT
