I am an enthusiastic, friendly teacher with over fifteen years' experience of teaching, based in Cambridge. I have a lot of experience of teaching adults which I particularly enjoy. A lot of adults worry that it is too late to start learning an instrument, or to resume piano lessons, but I have found that often adults are at an advantage over children because they can have a clearer motivation for learning and a more advanced understanding of the processes involved. I offer the guidance to tap into these advantages in learning, along with a sympathetic easy-going approach that will hopefully make your experience of learning the piano as intuitive, easy and enjoyable as possible. I can tailor the lessons to your individual needs and I am experienced in a range of styles. One of the other bonuses of learning as an adult is that you can learn exactly the style of music you like. I am very happy to work on or try out various things in a lesson, and while I can suggest things that you might enjoy doing, I can work around you. I studied music at Kings' College London, and later at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. I work as a freelance teacher and pianist in Cambridge. I enjoy playing all sorts of music including classical, jazz/blues, rock/pop etc and play as a soloist and in various bands. If you would like to have a trial lesson please do get in touch for more details. I normally travel to people's houses (this is simply in consideration for my neighbours as the walls are rather thin!) but I am also able to teach limited numbers of students from my flat just off Castle Street. Lessons are an hour and I charge £28 for a lesson. I consider my speciality to be making the piano enjoyable and approachable for adults (as it should be!)through high quality.
