1970's/80's off-white/cream, unisex folding bicycle. This is a great around-town and commuter bike and ideal for someone with limited storage space as it can be quickly collapsed and kept in a cupboard or tucked away under the stairs or similar space. It is equipped with three quick release lever mechanisms: one to fold the bike in half, another to drop the saddle post into the frame and the third one to drop and turn the handlebars straight, thus minimising the overall size and facilitating easy storage, handling and transportation. The frame is of a sturdy gauge, tubular steel construction that will stand up to all the knocks of everyday use. It has chrome, twenty inch diameter wheels fitted with chunky tyres to cushion the jarring caused by cobbles, granite sets and potholes! It is fitted with the original, traditional Sturmey-Archer three speed gear hub; more than enough gears for around-town use. The original mudguards are still affixed as is the chainguard that prevents clothing getting caught. A kick-down stand is incorporated so that it can be easily parked. There is a useful pannier rack for briefcase or shopping. A rear reflector is fitted and there is a lamp bracket at the front. The bicycle has been languishing at the back of my garage for over twenty five years but I have taken it out and given it a thorough overhaul. All bearings have been greased, the chain and cogs have been lubricated, the chain tension has been checked, all cables have been greased and anything else that needs checking has been checked and adjusted where necessary. New tyres and tubes have been fitted. It is in first class mechanical condition. Obviously, it is not new and has the scuffs and abrasions one would expect for a bike that was in regular use for a few years. I have given it a quick clean-up but it would benefit cosmetically from a more thorough clean and polish. Please note that this is an original Raleigh bicycle, handmade in Nottingham, England. IT IS NOT a cheap, far-eastern.
