NEW BIG PRICE CUT TO SILLY LOW LEVEL FOR CLEARANCE I bought this in a rather desperate attempt to correct for room resonance issues causing bass boominess from my hi-fi speakers. It did actually do a quite reasonable job of it - but the reality is that for one's everyday living space one really needs a more precise means to identify and correct for peaks and dips in the in-room frequency response of one's speaker system - graphic equalizers always being a fairly blunt instrument for that purpose. Also, this model was never really intended for use in ordinary domestic hi-fi systems, being a rack-mountable model aimed at (commonly professional) musicians who are using amplified instruments and need to do quick EQs in the studio or for the various locations where they may be operating. It thus doesn't fit too well in an ordinary hi-fi cabinet and would scratch whatever surface it is resting upon. On the other hand, this is a highly regarded model in terms of build, operation and sound quality, and indeed it is very solidly built (it's quite heavy), clearly intended to last well. The sliders are much easier to set accurately than in many graphic equalizers, and they feel solid and glide in a smooth and positive manner - quite different from what you'd get from cheapo Behringer and various other mass-production makes. Unlike so many Behringer units, this gets only warm in use - not at all what I would call hot, which again suggests better quality and likely much longer lifespan. I bought this in May 2014, and used it only for a couple of months, finally discovering the DSPeaker Anti-Mode 2.0 Dual Core, available from B.K. Electronics here in the UK, who also manufacture and sell particularly good subwoofers. That unit was the realization of something of a 'holy grail' for me, enabling me to get a much more precise correction for room and speaker resonances, and so the BSS unit - great though it is - became redundant. The BSS equalizer cost me £567 from Thomann in May 2014, though amazingly various dealers are listing the same model at close to £1,500. Thomann appears to be highly regarded as a dealer, and there is no indication of the unit being other than genuine, and indeed new when I received it.
