Rustic trunk coffee table handmade with pallet wood.
I used 4 pallets to make this rustic trunk.
After I dismantled the pallets I cut the wood to size and sanded it down extensively.
I then put it all together using screws and glue and covered the screws with wooden nails.
I gave the outside 2 coats of bees wax to protect it and painted the inside a vintage dark green colour to give it a fresher look.
I used 2 rusted vintage cast iron hinges on the top and 2 vintage handles reclaimed from an old army trunk.
Because I used pallet wood the trunk shows many signs of wear and tear, including some holes where the nails used to be together with the occasional rusted nail here and there, but I think this only adds to its character.
I think that because of its size this trunk would be perfect as a coffee table, giving plenty of storage as well as a quirky rustic look to any room.
