Set of Golden Oak Arts amp Crafts High Back Dining Chairs Four Single Plus One Carver Design Classics
600 GBP
Set of Golden Solid Oak Arts and Crafts High Back Dining Chairs (Four Single plus One Carver). Design Classics. Excellent Quality. C. early 1900's.
The Arts and Crafts movement is currently enjoying a renaissance, with people eager to track down original pieces of furniture such as those offered for sale here. Many mass produced reproductions are entering the market so this opportunity to acquire an original matching set of four classic Arts and Crafts single dining chairs plus one carving chair in good condition is worth serious consideration - particularly as newly produced copies are highly likely to quickly lose their value and are often made from inferior materials.
These stylish high back chairs would look good in either a traditional or modern home given their simplicity and clean elegant tapered lines.
The sophisticated hand carved pierced decoration on each chair's central back rest is very subtle and appealing. It should blend with and enhance almost any decor.
The carver chair is especially useful as a statement piece of hall furniture when not required for dining.
All the chairs are of a nice, manageable size and hence easy to move around.
The size of each single chair is: Height to top of head rest approximately 106 cm. Height to seat approximately 45 cm. Width (between right and left edges) approximately 45.5 cm. Depth (between front and back edges) approximately 45 cm.
The size of the carver is: Height to top of head rest approximately 111 cm. Height to seat approximately 45 cm. Width (between right and left edges) approximately 56.5 cm. Depth (between front and back edges) approximately 54 cm.
The chairs were lovingly created by highly skilled craftsmen to reflect the ethos of the Arts and Crafts movement that such furniture should be both comfortable and beautiful. They are very attractive, classic pieces typical of the excellent workmanship and timeless style of the Arts and Crafts period.
These very good quality chairs are made from solid English oak - which craftsmen still cherish for its wonderful grain, as it is usually considered to be more decorative and unique than oak from elsewhere. They have a really attractive rich golden patina.
This is a reluctant private sale of these much loved items which were originally purchased by my family in the early 1900's.
The chairs are all in good antique condition, with a few small dents and marks commensurate with their age. Their frames and joints are all very strong. All of the pieces being offered for sale here, as one lot, are free from woodworm. These items are from a pet and smoke free home.
The chairs have drop in seats and need to be reupholstered. The requirement for this work to be done has been reflected in the advertised sale price.
