I found these crates in a market in need of a lot of tlc and restoration.
Both crates' lids were broken but luckily I was able to save the parts where the printing was intact, which I used to make the small doors and the remaining wood from the lid to use it as a shelf.
I repaired the crates and sanded them down to give them a good clean, being careful of not erasing the original printing.
I then gave them 2 coats of bees wax to protect them, while I painted the inside a vintage red to give it a fresher look.
I also used 2 ropes as handles for the doors.
Both crates have a lot of printing on the sides and on the top.
The crates are both from Uruguay but the doors have printing from Argentina and Paraguay.
Both crates show lots of signs of wear and tear but I think this can be expected being so old.
I think they would both work very well as side/end tables or, if bought together, as bedside tables, giving the room a touch of quirkiness as well as handy storage.
