An Amazing old book vintage Sewing Book 1930s - Embroidery - Knitting Book / Patterns – Crochet. Published by Newnes, London (UK) Dates from the 1930s, probably 1937. No precise date is printed but there is an inscription which indicates that the book was given as a gift in 1937
Large format hardback book - maroon cloth spine and beautifully illustrated covers - approx. 9" x 12 " (approx. 23cm x 30cm) - 109 pages - illustrated with drawings and black and white photographs in the main, plus 6 colour plates. The book contains a wealth of embroidery projects, including a series of picturesque English country cottages associated with famous authors. There are crochet patterns for chair backs and a table runner. Also short sections on knitting and rug making.
This book is in good condition overall for its age. Please note that there is some damage to the corners of the cover. There is general age discolouration. The pages are clean and free from stains, tears and annotations (other than an inscription and owner’s sticker on the front endpaper). The binding is tight. It is a heavy book. £20
