Large ornate Victorian slate clock,with visible open escapement.Circa 1880 -1890.Strikes the relevant amount of times on a gong hourly & once for the half hour.The slate case has plenty of fancy adornments ,to include two lady figures supporting colonnades, flanked either side by two fluted pillars, topped by scene depicting cherubs scuffling, There is also incised scroll work to front. . The movement is a quality French "Marti" manufacture, with an attractive pretty palleted open escapement, with easy to see numerals.On the rear of the twin train movement are impressed numbers & makers logo.This clock is a genuine antique,so please accept any usual age related nibbles, wear, or patination,as it is very unusual to find any antique without these characteristics & personally this can add to the feel of the item. Overall the clock is in very good allround order,& would grace any large hallway or room.Supplied with winding key.
