Yamaha Power V drumkit , drum kit , drums

Yamaha Power V drumkit , drum kit , drums, So called because of deeper toms which gave a heavier, fuller sound. 22" bass, with 12", 13" and 16" toms.Made in England at what was the Premier factory in Leicestershire after Yamaha had bought it, it was one of the first kits to feature the (then) new and (now) renowned Yamaha 'YESS' tom-mounting system which enable 360 degree rotation of the drum using just one adjusting nut. This was introduced in 1992 so the drums are early or mid 90's manufacture. Search the web and you'll notice that these kits were originally fitted with Yamaha CL heads. The ones on it currently are CL's, and in very good condition. It doesn't PROVE that these drums have had very little use but it's a damned good pointer as most drummers would upgrade when changing. There's a very good chance that this kit has seen very little use at all! The resonant heads were also CL's and although the batters were hardly used, the resonants had even less use so I've swapped them to batters. The floor tom resonant was never used as a batter so is effectively brand new, although all the others have had very, very little use at all. All the tensioner bolts have their washers too, perhaps because the heads have seldom (never?) been changed?More indication that this kit is virtually unused! In good condition but some odd marks and imperfections. The bass drum has what appears to be some residue from long gone stickers and there are some scratch marks that appear to have been an attempt to remove it.The kick-side hoop has a 4 - 6" section of wrap missing but I've moved this to the bottom so it can't now be seen. There is also a small damaged section to the wrap near the top (see last pic). This has obviously no impact on the sound, durability, tuning or playability of the drum whatsoever and is just cosmetic. Gleaned from the net: "The original Power V were painstakingly constructed for the European market using Japanese know how, machinery and even some manpower. The 6-ply toms and 9-ply bass shells were cross-grained using Yamaha’s Airseal system, with angle-jointed Philippine mahogany. All shells were meticulously finished inside with the usual smooth bearing edges to allow the head to sit well and respond properly. I saw the standard 22, 12, 13 and 16” set with power depths (which gave them their name) and we were led to believe at the time that these extra inches between the heads would change our lives. All (except the floor toms) were extra-deep with triple-flange hoops and the usual number of tensioners per head for an up-market set. Yamaha offered 20 and 22" basses, both 16" deep, with inlaid wooden hoops. They were fitted with a double tom holder. It was substantial and cast with an extra-large holding screw and a very good ball and socket angle holding adjustment. £95.00, Dunstable, 07563.
