Any bassist who is in to SERIOUS amplification knows the name 'Traynor.' Canadian Pete Traynor started to design and engineer bass amps in the '60's which were point-to-point hand wired valve amplifiers with legendary tone and reliability. Now, I'm not pretending that this particular amplifier, the Bass Master BM100, will ever be held in the same reverance as an original Traynor but it is certainly a very well made, solid little no-nonsense amp/combo that delivers huge punch. It's a great amp being very simple and straight-forward with a simple but very effective control panel featuring just Volume, Bass, Middle and Treble. Hugely loud too, being able to go up to full volume with no distortion - a feature of those early Traynors too. This is helped by the fact that the speaker is a 200 watt model, easily coping with the amp's 100 watt output. Many combos have speakers that are only just able to handle the amp's output which means that they can distort easier and certainly won't last as long if they're regularly driven at the amp's maximum! Very capable of gigging in medium size venues and certainly more than you'll ever need in a rehearsal room. What it does, it does very well indeed, featuring an effects send and return and a line out for connecting to a PA, power amplifier or recording. It also has a headphones jack for silent practice. Finished in an attractive but hard wearing blue carpeted covering it has a clever recessed strap handle on the top which means that other amps/speakers can be stacked on top without them wobbling about.
